It represents one of the most significant reforms affecting the packaging sector in recent decades.<\/p>\n<p>Its objective is to harmonise rules throughout the European Union, reduce packaging waste and promote a more resource-efficient economy.<\/p>\n<p>But what does it actually mean for paper bags?<\/p>\n<h2>A new common framework for all packaging<\/h2>\n<p>Unlike European directives, which must be transposed into national legislation, the PPWR is a regulation that applies directly in all Member States.<\/p>\n<p>This means that the same rules will apply to <a href=\"https:\/\/labolsadepapel.com\/en\/manufacturers\/\">manufacturers<\/a>, distributors and users of packaging throughout the European Union.<\/p>\n<p>Paper bags are part of this process and will need to comply with new requirements relating to conformity, recyclability, labelling and the technical information associated with the product.<\/p>\n<h2>Declaration of Conformity becomes mandatory<\/h2>\n<p>One of the main new requirements is the obligation to provide an <strong>EU Declaration of Conformity<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>This document will certify that the packaging complies with the requirements established by the Regulation and must be supported by the relevant technical documentation.<\/p>\n<p>For professional buyers, it will provide additional assurance that the product complies with current European legislation.<\/p>\n<h2>Recyclability moves from a claim to a measurable requirement<\/h2>\n<p>The PPWR establishes harmonised criteria for assessing packaging recyclability.<\/p>\n<p>All packaging will have to demonstrate that it can be effectively collected, sorted and recycled within existing systems.<\/p>\n<p>Paper bags start from a favourable position thanks to their integration into European paper and cardboard collection and recycling systems.
